Infant & Child Therapy

Infant & Child Therapy
for regulation, connection, and growth

At Brighter Minds Therapy, we offer thoughtful, developmentally informed support for infants, children, and their families. Our approach is tailored to each child’s unique needs and may include therapies such as EMDR and neurofeedback to support emotional regulation, attachment, resilience, and overall well-being. We believe early support can make a meaningful difference and help children build a stronger foundation for growth over time.

What is Infant & Child Therapy?

Infant and child therapy is a personalized approach that supports emotional development, nervous system regulation, and healthy connection during the early years of life. Because young children often express stress, overwhelm, or regulation differently than adults, therapy is designed to meet them in ways that feel appropriate to their age, stage of development, and individual needs.

At Brighter Minds Therapy, this work may include child-centered therapeutic support, family collaboration, and brain- and body-based approaches such as EMDR Therapy and Neurofeedback Therapy when appropriate. The goal is to support the child as a whole while also helping families better understand and respond to their child’s needs.

Why USE EMDR AND Neurofeedback
therapy with children?

Children do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling, but their bodies, behavior, and nervous systems often tell the story. That is why we value approaches that support more than conversation alone. EMDR and neurofeedback may both be helpful in supporting children in ways that are gentle, thoughtful, and developmentally appropriate.

EMDR Therapy

  • May help children process distressing or overwhelming experiences
  • Supports healing from patterns that feel stuck or activating
  • Offers a structured, guided therapy process
  • Can be adapted to a child’s age and developmental stage

Neurofeedback Therapy

  • A gentle, non-invasive approach
  • Helps the brain practice healthier, more regulated patterns
  • May support focus, emotional balance, sleep, and stress response
  • Can support nervous system resilience over time

Together, these approaches help us tailor care to the individual child and provide support that is thoughtful, evidence-informed, and responsive to the needs of the whole family.

What can infant & child therapy support?

Infant and child therapy may be helpful for a wide range of emotional, developmental, behavioral, and regulation-related concerns. While every child’s needs are unique, families often seek support for concerns such as:

  • emotional regulation
  • anxiety or frequent overwhelm
  • sleep challenges
  • attachment and connection concerns
  • sensory or nervous system
  • stress behavioral challenges
  • difficulty with transitions or daily routines
  • stress related to early experiences or trauma
  • focus and attention concerns
  • challenges with calm, coping, or resilience

Therapy is always tailored to the individual child, with care taken to understand their environment, relationships, strengths, and needs as a whole.

FAQ about
infant & child therapy

Starting therapy for your child can come with a lot of questions. Here are a few common questions families often ask when exploring support.

What ages do you work with?

Brighter Minds Therapy works with infants and children, with care tailored to each child’s developmental stage, needs, and goals.

Some families seek therapy because their child is struggling with behavior, emotions, sleep, overwhelm, stress, or connection. Others are simply looking for support and guidance during a challenging season. A consultation can help determine whether therapy may be a good fit.

Yes. Parents and caregivers are often an important part of the process, especially with younger children. Support may include guidance, collaboration, and shared strategies to help the child feel more supported at home and in daily life.

In some cases, yes. Both EMDR and neurofeedback may be adapted for children depending on their age, needs, and goals. Recommendations are always made thoughtfully and on an individual basis.

That is completely okay. We take a personalized approach and can help determine whether infant and child therapy, EMDR, neurofeedback, or another starting point may be the best fit.

Progress can look different for every child. It may include better emotional regulation, improved sleep, fewer stress responses, stronger coping skills, or more ease in daily routines and family connection.
